Ripa rugby tournament year 5&6
Today we went down to play Rippa rugby at Trentham Memorial Park. The weather was perfect and we had such a great day. We played well and pulled off a few fancy moves to score some pretty amazing tries. Well done to all the team and thank you to the year 4 people that stepped up to help. A Hugh thank you to Chris and Paula for coming with us , without our parent supporters we would not be able to attend these events. Mr Frater made time to come down and watch us and we appreciated the extra support. Lastly a MASSIVE Thank you to Scott who has helped us with all our trainings this term, we really did appreciate you expertise and support. We all had a fantastic time and Mrs Brattle was very proud of each and every one of you.

Rippa Rugby years 3 and 4 at Petone rec 2015
Well, all our hard work has paid off and the kids and adults have had a fantastic day down at Petone Rec for the rippa rugby tournament with our years 3 and 4. There were over 50 teams from over 30 different Schools throughout the Wellington region at the field. Our team was amazing, they were well behaved, showed great team spirit and sportsmanship as well as some pretty impressive skills. I am always proud to accompany the sports teams to big events like this and today was no exception. Thank you very much to all those who helped with transport or came down to cheer on the sidelines. We truly appreciate your help and support.
I was very proud of you all today Plateau Power!! Thankyou for your ears and your hard work. It was a great day. Mrs Brattle

Floorball
Today was the first meeting to register interest for playing Floor ball. I am still waiting to hear from 2 more classes before we can see how many children are interested. Once I have meet with the remaining 2 classes a signmee will be sent out to the parents and caregivers of those children who have indicated they are interested in forming a team. Floor ball will be replacing the unihoc competition and will be run by H2O on a Monday night with games played between 3:30 and 6. Children are able to catch a bus for those early games.
Floorball is a fast growing type of hockey played indoors with "plastic" sticks and a light weight plastic ball with holes. Typically five field players and a goalkeeper (without a stick) play on a fully enclosed rink. The goals are set in so play continues behind the goal-line, similar to ice hockey. Floorball is a safe, fast and fun sport and easy for people to pick up as other than a stick, no protective gear is required. There are few rules, mainly to make it a safe sport for everyone.
As some of you will be aware there will no longer be a School aged Unihoc competition, instead the council and H2O will be running Floorball. Floorball is very similar to Unihoc, with less rules so more flow to the game. Floorball is also offered at intermediate and college levels with those who show promise and passion able to compete in National and International competitions as adults. Click the picture below to watch a clip and you will see that Floorbal really is veru similar to Unihoc.

A huge congratulations to the Year 5 Plateau Ferns who were the winners of the Year 5 tournament. Great work team!

With the crisp fresh air and the beautiful blue sky, it was a great day to be running down at Harcourt Park for the cross country today. We had 42 students participate from years 1- 6. Well done to everyone who ran today, you all did a really good job. Once the results are emailed back to me, I will put them on the Ultranet.
